Lévis unveils the first fast-charge station in the Chaudière-Appalaches region

The city of Lévis and the Electric Circuit are pleased to announce that two public charging stations, including a fast-charge station, are now available to driver of electric vehicles (EVs). Visitors can now charge their vehicle in the parking lot of Complexe Pôle Sud, owned by the Logisco real estate group, located at the corner of de la Concorde and Ernest-Lacasse and easily reached by Rue de Courchevel. The announcement is part of Équiterre’s Rendez-Vous branchés event, which is being held at this site for the first time.

“We are proud to make Lévis home to the first public fast-charge station in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. It is strategically located, close to the bridges, the intersection of highways 20 and 73, and many businesses that will open shortly,” said Mayor Gilles Lehouillier.

“This initiative is perfectly in line with Lévis’ sustainable development action plan,” added Guy Dumoulin, Lévis city councillor and chair of the advisory committee for the environment. “Electrifying transportation is one of the ways to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and we are pleased to do our share.” The city of Lévis plans to install a total of 12 charging stations for electric vehicles by the end of 2017 and these two charging stations are a first step in that direction.

Today’s announcement of the installation of this new charging station signals a huge milestone for zero-emission mobility in Québec. It allows a range of EVs, including the Nissan LEAF to quickly extend their journeys, while reducing CO2 emissions, and concurrently helping more people make the decision to switch to electric.”

“We thank Lévis for its significant support to the Electric Circuit and to all EV drivers,” said France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. “It’s thanks to the confidence of partners like the city of Lévis that the network of charging stations continues to expand.”

This additional stop for EV drivers was made possible with the excellent collaboration of the Logisco real estate group, which granted the city of Lévis and Hydro-Québec the servitudes required for the installation and operation of these charging stations, free of charge.

The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the implementation of the infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network has over 475 public charging stations in operation, including 17 fast-charge stations, in select parking lots of the AMT as well as several RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants across Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 114 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit, and the network now has over 5,000 members.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site theelectriccircuit.com and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned.
