Two fast-charge stations for all-electric vehicles commissioned this spring in the city of Québec
The Electric Circuit is very pleased to announce that two new 400-V fast-charge stations will soon be in service in the city of Québec, thanks to partnerships with AddÉnergie and CAA-Québec, and the support of Nissan Canada. One station will be installed at AddÉnergie’s head office, located at 2327, boulevard du Versant Nord, at the junction of highways 440 and 740. A second fast-charge station will be installed at the offices of CAA-Québec, located at 444, rue Bouvier, near highways 40 and 973. And yet another one is already planned this year in Lévis, at Carrefour Saint-Romuald, near the intersection of highways 20 and 73, and close to the bridges. There will therefore be three fast-charge stations in the Québec metropolitan area.
“By choosing to electrify transportation, Québec is positioning itself as a world leader in this field and is tackling the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The transportation sector represents the largest emitter of GHGs,” said Minister Pierre Arcand. “We are delighted that two companies from Québec and a manufacturer such as Nissan are supporting transportation electrification by offering the charging infrastructure needed to support the adoption of even more electric vehicles on our roads.”

We salute the leadership of Hydro-Québec and Nissan Canada to spur the development of fast-charge infrastructure within the Electric Circuit. This fast-charge solution was developed at our head office and the charging stations are manufactured at our plant in Shawinigan, thanks to the support of the government of Québec. This is a great example of job creation in Québec,” said Louis Tremblay, President and CEO of AddÉnergie.
“CAA-Québec’s commitment to sustainable and responsible mobility is once again demonstrated with the installation of a fast-charge station at our Québec head office. Its location near major highways is ideal. It ties in with the actions taken daily by our consulting services in an effort to promote transportation electrification,” added Richard Lachance, President and CEO of CAA-Québec.
“I want to highlight the contribution and investments made by our partners, Nissan Canada, AddÉnergie and CAA-Québec, who believe in our network and I would like to thank them for their commitment towards users of electric vehicles. Our objective is to install 50 fast-charge stations by the end of 2016, and today’s announcement is a concrete in that direction; it’s also excellent news for drivers of all-electric vehicles in the Québec metropolitan area and elsewhere,” said France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the partners of the Electric Circuit.
A rapidly growing network of fast-charge stations
Eight Electric Circuit fast-charge stations are already in service. More will be added this year: the ones announced in the cities of Québec and Lévis, as well as in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Drummondville and Magog. Commissioning of the 25 first fast-charge locations in 2015 are supported by Nissan Canada.
The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative providing the charging infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec, with more than 375 stations, including 8 fast-charge stations, in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 101 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit.
Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned.
