Press Release
Light up your Holidays at the Électrium: Fill up on energy for free!
During the holidays, Hydro-Québec’s electricity interpretation is offering an energizing—and free—program for the whole family. Introductory science workshops run by Profaqua, a firm that specializes in popularizing science, will captivate curious children, ages 6 and up. A shortened version of the centre’s guided tour will also be available.
Fun workshops for the whole family
From December 27 to December 30, and on January 3 and 4, 2015, electricity will share the spotlight at the Électrium. Budding scientists will get to participate in workshops on a variety of scientific subjects: how to build bridges, parachute an egg without breaking it, explore the moon or cook up chemical potions. So many ideas to arouse their curiosity!
Guides will lead children and their parents through a new theme every day [workshops in French only].
Learn about our history
To highlight Hydro-Québec’s 70th anniversary, we have set up a display of artefacts and archival photos from the company’s historical collection on the theme of the first phase of the nationalization of electricity.
Workshop programming and reservations
For detailed programming, workshop schedules or to reserve (places are limited), contact the Électrium team at 1 800 267-4558, or visit www.hydroquebec.com/visit.
Holiday hours
The Électrium will be open from December 21 to 23 and 27 to 30, 2014, and on January 3 and 4, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular hours will resume on January 5.
The Électrium is located in Sainte-Julie, Exit 87 off Highway 30, in the Montérégie region.
At the Électrium, electricity is at the heart of life
The Électrium offers guided tours adapted to different visitor groups and several interactive modules so you can learn more about the electric phenomena that surround you. For example, you can observe the electric eel, explore electricity’s role in the human body and its effect on our reflexes—and even get to test who, in your family, has the fastest reflexes.
