Press Release
Granby joins The Electric Circuit
The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the city of Granby for the installation of a first public charging station for electric vehicles (EVs). The charging station is located in city hall’s du Millénaire parking lot and is now available for drivers of plug-in electric vehicles.
“We are very pleased to offer this new service to our residents as well as to visitors that drive an electric vehicle,” said Pascal Bonin, Mayor of Granby. “Today marks another opportunity for the city to turn words into deeds by taking concrete action in favor of the environment. When it comes to making our city a greener and healthier place, every step counts.”
“The Electric Circuit is expanding in part thanks to the willingness of dynamic municipalities like the city of Granby that make public charging stations available to their citizens,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec. “This is great news for the region’s electric vehicle drivers who now have some 60 Electric Circuit charging stations at their disposal in Montérégie to extend their range when needed.”
Electric vehicle drivers who would like to use the city’s charging station can purchase a card by visiting the Electric Circuit Web site.
The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec, with close to 250 Level 2 (240-V) charging stations and one fast-charge (400-V) station in operation in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 53 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in many regions of Québec.
Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
