The Electric Circuit and the city of Magog: a winning combination

The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are delighted with the reception of the charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) in the city of Magog. The four charging stations, located at the arena, city hall, on Rue Principale Ouest and at the Centre d’interprétation du Marais, have been available since the summer for drivers of plug-in EVs.

“One of Magog’s strategic objectives is to raise awareness and encourage our citizens to adopt environmentally-friendly practices,” said Mayor Vicki May Hamm. “To reach this goal, we created a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plan that contains a series of measures to help us reduce our emissions by 2,997 tonnes of carbon equivalent by 2016. We are proud to achieve one of our plan’s actions by joining the growing family of the Electric Circuit and installing these charging stations for our residents and visitors.”

“We are delighted with our partnership with the city of Magog and pleased with the interest in electric charging,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. “Since their installation, the charging stations have been off to a promising start. They clearly meet a real need in the region.”

The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec with nearly 250 charging stations (240 V) currently in service in parking lots of the AMT, as well as RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 51 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in many regions of Québec.

While most electric vehicle charging is done at home and at work, the public charging infrastructure allows EV drivers to travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if necessary. Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
