Hydro-Québec welcomes Manon Brouillette as the new Chair of its Board of Directors
Earlier today, the Québec Cabinet announced the appointment of Manon Brouillette as Chair of Hydro-Québec’s Board of Directors.
For over 20 years, Manon Brouillette has headed various companies in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors, including Vidéotron and Verizon. As an executive, she acquired solid experience in transforming organizations in the context of rapid growth and market disruptions, while also spearheading changes in business models and the customer experience.
Ms. Brouillette also has extensive experience as a corporate director, having served on the boards of several Québec and international companies, such as Banque Nationale, Cirque du Soleil, BFA Industries, Sonder, Lightspeed, Altice France and Altice USA. In addition, her social engagement has led her to sit on the boards of the École de technologie supérieure, Montréal’s Quartier de l’innovation and the Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine. Throughout her career, she has worked to develop women’s leadership skills and promote mental health in the workplace.
“Manon’s experience as a public utility executive and a board member in several economic sectors represents a major asset for Hydro-Québec as the province engages in the energy transition,” stated the outgoing Chair of the Board, Jacynthe Côté.
“I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Manon Brouillette, both personally and on behalf of the entire Hydro-Québec team,” commented Pierre Despars, Hydro-Québec’s Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. “We’re all delighted that a woman of such high caliber will take over from Jacynthe Côté, whom I thank once again for her great contribution over the past four years.”
Manon Brouillette will assume her new duties on June 2 for a five-year term. Along with the other Board members and the Québec government, she will continue the work that will lead to the appointment of a new President and Chief Executive Officer.
“Hydro-Québec is a unique organization,” observed Manon Brouillette. “In addition to providing an essential service, it is an integral part of our collective identity. Faced with the challenges posed by climate change and the sharp increase in demand for clean electricity, the company once again has a historic opportunity to help shape the future. I am proud and enthusiastic to join forces with the women and men who make up this great company.”
