Press Release

Improving electricity service quality in Brossard: Hydro-Québec takes action.

Following a productive discussion about the electricity service quality issues facing Brossard residents, Mayor Doreen Assaad, Hydro-Québec President and CEO Sophie Brochu and Éric Filion Executive Vice President – Chief Operating and Customer Experience Officer of Hydro-Québec agreed to step up the pace of vegetation control activities and carry out preventive repairs on the distribution system.

The increased number of outages in recent months in Brossard sectors M, N, O, R, S and T is primarily due to system equipment failure and abundant vegetation near power lines.

In collaboration with the city of Brossard, Hydro-Québec has set out an intensive action plan to reduce the number of outages and shorten their duration. The planned work includes priority equipment repairs, preventive vegetation control near the distribution system, an inspection of all distribution lines in the area and changes to the configuration and routing of certain lines.

“We have already accomplished a significant part of the work and we have enhanced our action plan. We are using all available resources to repair priority equipment and complete the vegetation control activities by the end of 2022. We are aware of the inconveniences caused by the situation and we ask for patience from Brossard residents while our teams carry out the necessary maintenance work,” noted Éric Filion Executive Vice President – Chief Operating and Customer Experience Officer of Hydro-Québec.

Despite the progress made in terms of the system inspection, repair and maintenance work outlined in the action plan, outages may still occur, in particular due to extreme weather events that are outside our control.

For safety reasons, certain work on the system will require scheduled service interruptions. We will make every effort to minimize the number and duration of those service interruptions. Affected customers will be notified in advance within a reasonable timeframe. Information regarding scheduled interruptions is available on the following website:
