Hydro-Québec makes concrete commitments regarding its relations with Indigenous communities
On September 27, the Board of Directors approved the new policy regarding relations with Indigenous communities in order to further improve the company’s ways of doing things.
Establishing and maintaining good relations with Indigenous communities has long been a priority for Hydro-Québec in connection with our activities and projects. The new policy outlines our strategies regarding our relations with partners, customers and Indigenous employees.
The new policy aims to promote the acceptability and integration of our projects and activities within Indigenous communities, to help develop and maintain our relations and to foster a workplace that is open and receptive to Indigenous peoples and their realities.
Furthermore, in June, President and CEO Éric Martel committed to raising awareness, company-wide, of the importance of strengthening our ties with Indigenous peoples.
Hydro-Québec has also begun the process of obtaining Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
These actions portray our vision for our relations with Indigenous communities. They lead us to reflect on every aspect of our activities and help us find ways to do better for the benefit of all.
