Green electricity attracts Amazon Web Services to Montréal
Hydro-Québec is delighted that Amazon Web Services (AWS), a top global player in cloud computing, has chosen Montréal as the site of its first Canadian facility.
In the blog post announcing its decision, AWS described the Greater Montréal region as “carbon-neutral and powered almost entirely be clean, renewable hydro power.”
In November 2015, Éric Martel, President and CEO of Hydro-Québec, had the opportunity to back the Québec government and other economic stakeholders in their efforts to attract AWS by highlighting the merits of our hydropower to company management.
“We’re thrilled that the clean energy we produce tipped the scales for Amazon Web Services in deciding to establish operations in Québec,” stated Éric Martel.
