A first fast-charge station between the Québec and Charlevoix regionsInauguration of a fast-charge station for electric vehicles in Saint-Tite-des-Caps

The Electric Circuit is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the Corporation du Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix and the commissioning of a fast-charge station for all-electric vehicles.

This is the first public fast-charge station in the Côte-de-Beaupré MRC. This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of Nissan Canada and Hydro-Québec’s Integrated Enhancement Program (IEP).

“By contributing to the development and expansion of the network of electric vehicle charging stations, Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix is demonstrating that transportation electrification is well underway in Québec. Thanks to numerous actions and the new Transportation Electrification Action Plan 2015–2020 unveiled a month ago, our government is showing its commitment to fighting greenhouse gas emissions, through transportation electrification,” said Caroline Simard, MNA for Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré.

“This new fast-charge station definitely represents an added value for the municipality of Saint-Tite-des-Caps and, of course, users of the Sentier. New major investments will be made at Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix over the coming months with the renewal of the welcome centre and improvements of the hiking trails. The addition of this charging station is therefore just the beginning,” said Normand Duclos, President of the Corporation du Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix.

“The Côte-de-Beaupré MRC is very proud of this initiative. We hope many other companies and municipalities in the region will follow suit in the coming years. The MRC’s council of mayors is committed to sustainability and it’s through all of our actions that we will achieve these goals,” added Parise Cormier, Prefect of the Côte-de-Beaupré MRC and Mayor of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges.

“It was important to add a charging station for electric vehicle drivers, since the municipality is advantageously located between the regions of Québec and Charlevoix. While their vehicle charges, visitors can contribute to the municipality’s economic development by purchasing local goods and services,” said Daniel Robitaille, President of Développement Côte-de-Beaupré.

“We salute the initiative of Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix and the Côte-de-Beaupré MRC as well as thank Nissan for its financial support. We are convinced that this first fast-charge station between Québec and Charlevoix will contribute to make Saint-Tite-des-Caps a choice destination for electric vehicle drivers passing through the region,” said Ann Bourget, Assistant Director – Regional Affairs – Eastern Québec at Hydro-Québec and Electric Circuit representative.

With this announcement, Côte-de-Beaupré now has two public charging stations, one at the Saint-Hubert restaurant in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and a fast-charge station in Saint-Tite-des-Caps. About the Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the implementation of the infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network comprises over 540 public charging stations, including 23 fast-charge stations, operating across 16 Québec regions. Since its launch in March 2012, 129 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit, and the network now has over 6,000 members.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned. The Electric Circuit card also allows users to access VERnetwork’s 150 Québec charging stations.
