A 500th Electric Circuit charging station and the 20th fast-charge stationGranby now offers a fast-charge station for electric vehicles

The city of Granby and the Electric Circuit are pleased to announce that two new charging stations—one fast-charge and one standard—are now available to drivers of electric vehicles (EVs). They are located in the parking lot of the tourism office, at 111, rue Denison Est. Granby has offered standard charging at city hall since 2013.

“I am delighted that the city of Granby and a manufacturer like Nissan are providing the charging infrastructure needed to support the adoption of even more electric vehicles on our roads. With the numerous actions taken by our government over recent years, including the announcement of the new Transportation Electrification Action Plan 2015–2020, Québec is positioning itself as a world leader, in addition to fighting greenhouse gas emissions, which the transportation sector is mainly responsible for producing,” said Pierre Arcand, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Northern Plan.

“I am convinced that these new charging stations will allow EV drivers to quickly charge their vehicles near a tourist destination,” added Pascal Bonin, Mayor of Granby. “This is another concrete action from our 2013 action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Today’s announcement of a new fast-charge station is a landmark for zero-emission mobility in the province of Québec. It will allow a range of EVs, including the Nissan LEAF, to quickly extend their range, while reducing CO2 emissions, and concurrently helping more people make the decision to switch to electric,” said Christian Meunier, President of Nissan Canada.

“We salute Granby for its leadership in this project, as well as Nissan for its financial support. By offering fast-charge and standard charging, the mayor and his team are positioning Granby as a choice destination for electric vehicle drivers in the region. This fast-charge station contributes to developing the corridor along highway 10 between Montréal and Sherbrooke,” affirmed France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec and representative of the Electric Circuit.

A rapidly expanding network

The Electric Circuit is continuing its expansion in the Montérégie region and now offers more than 111 public charging stations. In addition to the fast-charge stations already in service in Magog and Granby, other charging stations are planned along highway 10, thanks to the support of Nissan Canada, in Richelieu and Bromont.

About the Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the implementation of the infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network comprises over 500 public charging stations, including 21 fast-charge stations, operating across 16 Québec regions. Since its launch in March 2012, 121 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit, and the network now has over 5,600 members.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site theelectriccircuit.com and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned. The Electric Circuit card also allows users to access VERnetwork’s 150 Québec charging stations.
