Partnership between the city of Lévis and the Electric Circuit to install charging stations

The mayor of Lévis, Gilles Lehouillier, and, on behalf of the partners of the Electric Circuit, Hydro-Québec’s Vice President – Public and Government Affairs, Pierre-Luc Desgagné, announced today, in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Northern Plan, Pierre Arcand, a partnership agreement for the installation of 12 public charging stations for electric vehicles throughout the city of Lévis. This includes the first fast-charge station along Highway 20. The 240-V charging stations will be commissioned gradually until the end of 2017. The 400-V fast-charge station will be operational in 2015, located at Carrefour Saint-Romuald, near the bridges and at the intersection of highways 20 and 73.

“This partnership between the city of Lévis and the Electric Circuit will help encourage more electric vehicles on Québec roads. With the numerous actions taken over recent years, the government of Québec is reaffirming its commitment to promoting electric vehicles and transportation electrification. We are supporting Québec’s economic development, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our oil consumption,” said Minister Arcand.

“The installation of Electric Circuit charging stations in our city is another of Lévis’ initiatives to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and improve the quality of life of our residents. I strongly encourage businesses, organizations and the general population to take part in the movement to electrify transportation: It’s the way of the future. I am delighted to announce that in 2015 Lévis will host a “Rendez-vous branché” so that our residents can meets experts in the field and ask questions,” said the mayor of Lévis, Gilles Lehouillier.

About the Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in providing the charging infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network features over 330 public charging stations in operation throughout Québec, including in select parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants. Since its launch in March 2012, 79 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile application for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
