Press Release
Hydro-Québec participates in Connecticut clean energy solicitation
Today Hydro-Québec participated in the state of Connecticut’s competitive solicitation process for Zero Carbon Energy. Hydro-Québec is pleased to offer a proposal to deliver approximately 3 terawatt hours of firm hydropower annually for a ten year period to advance the environmental and reliability objectives of Connecticut and New England. Hydro-Québec’s proposal will contribute to these objectives in a highly cost effective manner by using an innovative approach to maximizing existing and new transmission infrastructure.
Under today’s offer, Hydro-Québec’s clean energy will flow from its existing system into New England via the proposed Vermont Green Line (VGL) which is currently under development by Vermont Green Line Devco, LLC, a subsidiary of National Grid Ventures, which is a distinct unit of National Grid plc.
Today’s action was the first step in Connecticut’s Zero Carbon solicitation and procurement. Hydro-Québec looks forward to continuing to participate as the process moves forward in the coming weeks and months.
