Spring Break at the Électrium: Free, fun workshops for budding scientists!
During March Break, the Électrium is offering an energizing—and free—program! Introductory science workshops run by Profaqua, a firm that specializes in popularizing science, will captivate curious children, ages 6 and up. Guided tours of the electricity interpretation centre will also be available. Reserve your spot today!
Fun workshops for the whole family
From February 29 to March 6, 2016, there will be more than just electricity on the agenda at the Électrium. Budding scientists will get to participate in workshops on a variety of scientific subjects. They’ll get to learn about the human body, explore the moon and cook up chemical potions. The choice is up to them.
Each day will feature a new theme. For detailed programming, workshop schedules or to reserve (places are limited), contact the Électrium team at 1 800 267-4558, or visit www.hydroquebec.com/visit. Note that workshops will be held in French only.
Temporary exhibit
You can also look back to the exciting period during which the huge dams in the Côte-Nord were built, along with the first electricity “highway”. The Électrium is also home to an exhibit highlighting the 50-year anniversary of Jean-Lesage generating station (Manic-2) and the first high-voltage (735-kV) power transmission line.
March Break schedule
The Électrium will be open from February 29, to March 6, 2016, inclusively, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 60-minute workshops will be held at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The Électrium is located in Sainte-Julie, Exit 87 off Highway 30, in the Montérégie region.
At the Électrium, electricity is at the heart of life
The Électrium offers guided tours adapted to different visitor groups and features several interactive modules to help you learn more about the electric phenomena that surround you. You’ll get to observe the electric eel, explore electricity’s role in the human body and its effect on our reflexes—and even get to test who, in your family, has the quickest reflexes.
