Press Release
Learn about our history at the Électrium during the Journées de la culture
Did you know that Hydro-Québec was created in 1944? As part of the Journées de la culture, between September 26 and 28, the Électrium is pleased to offer you a temporary display on the theme of the 70th anniversary of the creation of Hydro-Québec.
The display includes artefacts and archival photos from Hydro-Québec’s historical collection around three themes: the historical context of the creation of the company, the first employees and the new public corporation’s first construction projects.
Your visit will help you relive memories and inspire animated discussions.
- Which Québec premier passed the Hydro-Québec Act? Why?
- What territory did Hydro-Québec serve?
- How many hydroelectric generating stations supplied the city of Montréal at the time?
- What was the first major project completed after the first nationalization?
Participants will also be able to test their knowledge with a historical quiz and they could win one of three prizes.
The display will continue until January 2015.
Free guided tours
In the company of experienced tour guides, visitors will also be able to visit the electricity interpretation centre and satisfy their curiosity about electricity and its many secrets.
