Press Release
Illuminated holidays: Fun and free workshops for the whole family at the Électrium!
The Électrium, Hydro-Québec’s electricity interpretation centre, opens its doors to you and your family this holiday season. Your little explorers can discover the world of science with initiation workshops animated by Profaqua, the agency that communicates science to youngsters. A shortened version of the centre’s guided tour is also on the program—all free-of-charge!
A first this year!
From December 27 to December 30, electricity won’t take the entire spotlight at the Électrium! Budding scientists will get to participate in workshops developed just for them about subjects as varied as lights and lasers, wind, the chemistry of dry ice, and the secrets behind magic tricks! One theme will be featured each day. Profaqua animators will guide children aged 6 and up through experiments and educational games.
For more information, contact the Électrium team at 1 800 267-4558 or go to http://www.hydroquebec.com/visit. Places are limited.
Have fun and stimulate your neurons
Learn how electrical phenomena affect the world around us through guided tours and a variety of interactive modules. You can also explore electricity’s role in the human body and its reflexes—and even get to test who, in your family, has the fastest reflexes! While you’re there, don’t miss the electric eel and observe how its shocks affect the Christmas tree lights. It’s simply magical!
Come discover the nature of electricity and how to produce it, and learn about electrical and magnetic fields. Then, have some fun seeing how static electricity affects your hair with the Van de Graaff generator!
The Électrium is located in Sainte-Julie, off Highway 30 exit 87, in the Montérégie region.
