The energy transition in Îles-de-la-Madeleine – Hydro-Québec takes note of the Régie de l'énergie’s decision

Hydro-Québec has taken note of the Régie de l’énergie’s decision which calls for additional studies to be carried out on the various scenarios considered, in particular, the connection by cables to Hydro-Québec’s transmission system.

Hydro-Québec will first examine the Régie’s decision and its potential impact on the current schedule. The connection to the grid is Hydro-Québec’s preferred solution and the one it filed with the Régie de l’énergie. This solution is supported by consultations held with Îles-de-la-Madeleine customers and environmental groups across Québec, in addition to analyses conducted, both since 2018.

In the meantime, the Îles-de-la-Madeleine population will continue to be supplied by Cap-aux-Meules generating station.
