Major boost to the Electric Circuit’s network of fast-charge stations10th Fast-Charge Station for Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert in Saint-Hyacinthe

The Electric Circuit and Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert are pleased to announce that a 10th St-Hubert restaurant, in Saint-Hyacinthe, has commissioned a fast-charge station for electric vehicles (EVs) in partnership with Nissan Canada. The addition of quick-charge locations to the Electric Circuit network is excellent news for current and future EV drivers, who will be able to top up their batteries as they travel when they stop to eat at a St-Hubert restaurant.

In addition to the new one in Saint-Hyacinthe, there are fast-charge stations at St-Hubert restaurants in Laval, Saint-Jérôme, Piedmont, Sainte-Agathe, Richelieu, Drummondville, Bromont, Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce and Vaudreuil. The first one in Québec, a pilot project, was installed in 2013 in the parking lot of a St-Hubert restaurant in Boucherville, and it is still there. A quick-charge station can charge the battery of an all-electric vehicle to 80% in just 20 to 30 minutes.

“Québec is strongly committed to transportation electrification, and the network of public charging stations is easing the transition and helping reduce our reliance on oil,” said the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Northern Plan, Pierre Arcand.

“The Montérégie region, with its extensive road system, has many plug-in terminals. The new public charging station in Saint-Hyacinthe will make it easier for EV drivers to get around. Everyone gains from encouraging the use of electric cars, because they help reduce air pollution,” pointed out the Minister Responsible for the Montérégie Region, Lucie Charlebois.

“Transportation electrification is in line with our environmentally responsible values, and that’s why we’re very pleased to maintain our commitment to our customers by making EV charging stations available. Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert now offer about a hundred Electric Circuit stations throughout the province,” said Pierre Rivard, President and General Director, Groupe St-Hubert.

“I’m convinced that adding this fast-charge station to our restaurant in Saint-Hyacinthe, on Highway 20, will be great for both local customers and others passing through the area, who will be able to stop in and enjoy a good meal while their cars are charging,” said Steve Deslauriers, the St-Hubert restaurant franchisee in the Saint-Hyacinthe.

About the Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the implementation of the infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network comprises over 750 public charging stations, including 60 fast-charge stations, operating across 16 Québec regions. Since its launch in March 2012, over 160 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit, and the network now has over 10,500 members.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned. The Electric Circuit card also allows users to access the 150 Québec charging stations of the FLO network (formerly the VERnetwork).
