The Electric Circuit: A quick-charge station for Mont-Tremblant

The Ville de Mont-Tremblant and the Electric Circuit are pleased to announce the commissioning of the first 400-volt quick-charge station for electric vehicles in Mont-Tremblant. The charging station is located in the parking lot of the Parc de la Paix, in front of city hall, and is accessible through Rue de Saint-Jovite.

This is the sixth Electric Circuit charging station in the Ville de Mont-Tremblant. The other five are 240-volt stations and located in the parking lots of city hall at 1145, Rue de Saint-Jovite, the Complexe aquatique Mont-Tremblant at 635, Rue Cadieux, the St-Hubert restaurant at 330, Rue de Saint-Jovite, the Fairmont Château Tremblant Hôtel at 3045, chemin de la Chapelle, and Hydro-Québec at 365, Rue Siméon. 

“I am thrilled to see that the Ville de Mont-Tremblant is offering the charging infrastructure required by electric vehicle drivers, proving that transportation electrification is well underway in Québec », said Christine Saint-Pierre, Minister responsible for the Laurentides region. “Today’s announcement falls perfectly in line with our government’s Transportation Electrification Action Plan 2015–2020. It shows that Québec is positioning itself as a world leader in this field and is tackling the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

The city wants to do its part to control greenhouse gas emissions and considers that electric vehicles provide an opportunity to make positive change. “The council is convinced that this first fast-charge station in Mont-Tremblant will contribute to making the city a choice destination for electric vehicle drivers passing through the region. We are delighted with our partnership with the Electric Circuit and we thank Hydro-Québec for its financial support for the installation of this new charging station. I encourage the public to choose the new options provided by the transportation electrification movement,” said Mayor Luc Brisebois.

“We are happy that a city like Mont-Tremblant is choosing to offer electric vehicle drivers a quick-charge option. This new service will certainly make travelling easier for both residents and visitors of the magnificent Larentides region, which now boasts a total of 55 charging stations,” added France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec and representative of the Electric Circuit.

Fast-charging is offered at $10 per hour and is billed by the minute. For example, a 30-minute charge costs $5.

About the Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the implementation of the infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec. The network comprises over 695 public charging stations, including 45 fast-charge stations, operating across 16 Québec regions. Since its launch in March 2012, 148 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit, and the network now has over 8,600 members. 

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site theelectriccircuit.com and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned. The Electric Circuit card also allows users to access the 150 Québec charging stations of the FLO network (formerly the VERnetwork).
